LA PAZ PALCA CANYON

PRESENTATION:

The existence of mineral pigments that give color to the mountains, volcanic rocks and fossils, along with the presence of hawks, eagles and other Andean birds, shows us a unique eco system in the Andes as well as being an ideal place to make a light hiking of altitude acclimatization.

HIGHLIGHTS:

• Deep eroded canyons and bizarre rock and clay formations.

• Attractive cliff formations give the impression they are church organ pipes.

• Ideal location for a light hike.

• More than seven million years ago, the rains and wind formed this strange landscape formation in the flow of the rivers that go into the Amazon Jungle.

PROGRAMME:

Departing from the lodge at 08:00 hours heading south of the city of La Paz, on board of our vehicle we’ll reach the small community of Palca after about two hours of journey, we will observe the immense mountain Illimani 21,254 feet approximately, on the road multicolored flowers adorn the landscape of this rural area that maintains its old habits and ways of life, then will start our trek which will last about three hours and will arrive in a warm area with crystal rivers that moisten this valley of fertile soil. After a relaxing rest and enjoyed a delicious Box Lunch, will return to La Paz.
